Snorkers! Good Oh! Support
Oh I say Number 1 , try not to foul the cable again! You made me spill my gin (mutters - bloody RNVR types…)

Errata
1. Ship data for the Royal Navy – missing Flotilla Leaders.
When the RN ordered destroyer classes, they normally specified a slighter larger version and/or one better equipped to carry a command staff, and sometimes they had an extra 4.7in gun fitted amidships. These were ‘flotilla leaders’. Only the extra gun matters for Snorkers! Good Oh! , so the following ships (not the whole class), roll +1 main battery gun dice when firing broadsides: Codrington (A Class) Exmouth & Faulknor (E&F class) Grenville & Hardy (G&H class) 2. Note that Hardy appears in the Narvik scenario so point 1 applies.
2. Main Rules Page 8 Force Morale, starting morale:
The ‘-1 for MS’ (per merchant ship) should be to a maximum of -1 no matter how many MS there are.
3. Page 18 specialist torpedo boats,
Where it says : 'Exception: specialist torpedo boats, as noted in the data sheets may count firing from two actual mounts as one spread.’ ‘As noted' is where torpedo mounts are shown in brackets in the ship data eg (3+3) or (2+2) (Good oh!)
4. Pages 28, 30-31 Attack Aircraft
Example on page 30 refers to ‘special rule’ but that special rule is missing from main text. Insert on page 28 under ‘Air Attack Target Selection’ the following: IJN Air and RN Fleet Air Arm can adjust the targeting roll by ‘1’ up or down (giving them more control of which ships to target to reflect their superior training in this period).
5. Page 31 Attack Aircraft
Example on page 31 the last paragraph of the example says "The three Val dive bombers are now dropping 11B bombs in total...". this should be: ‘The three Val dive bombers are now dropping 14B bombs in total attacking as one wave of 8 and one of 6...’ Also the DT stats are wrong in the example…
6. Page 36, 38, 43 Why are some torpedoes in brackets?
eg (3+3) or (2+2) See point 2 above.
7. Page 44 USN ship data:
Fletcher class, ‘Main F&B’ should be ‘3D + 1 D Bs’ not just ‘3D’ Page 44 USN ship data: Bagley Class, ‘Main S&B’ should be ‘3D’ not ‘43’ – sorry Bagley drivers…
FAQ
1. I don’t understand how to check for arcs and the ‘best torpedo arc’?
For torpedo launching, place the centre of the straight edge of the turning and arc template against the side of the ship, aligned to the front funnel of the firer. Any target between the broadside arc lines on the template can be hit by any and all torpedo mounts that can bear onto the Broadside (Bs).
If the target is not in the broadside then only the forward or stern facing torpedo mounts may launch torpedoes. All subject to being within range of course (measured front funnel to front funnel). The template is never placed on a firer’s bow or stern for assessing firing arcs.
THEN – for torpedoes: place the centre of the straight edge of the turning and arc template on the centre of the front/bow (or bow edge of models base) of the target. If a line drawn from the firer's front funnel to the target's bow approaches the target through the ‘best arc’ as marked on the template (see the arrows on the template point AT the target…) then the firer gains the best torpedo arc bonus. This is the only time that ‘funnel to funnel ‘ is not used.
2. When is a ship ‘Damaged’ as rules are not clear…
When it has lost over 50% ie a 8 HP ship is Damaged when it loses 5 HP, (and a 11 HP ship is damaged when it has lost 6 HP)
3. Declaring Targets… Do all ships in a squadron declare gun fire and torpedo attacks first before resolving any?
Yes. So eg you engage the Kongo with a heavy cruiser and a couple of spreads of torpedoes. Declare it all, then start rolling dice. And if ther cruiser sinks the Kongo with a lucky magazine hit then those torpedoes just blow up the burning wreckage.
As explained on Page 15, point i under 'Gunnery'. '... declare targets...' applies to torpedoes firing too. . BUT effects of gunnery are applied before torpedoes are launched.
4. Why are there rules for searchlights but not flares/starshells in the nightfighting rules?
The basic rules work on the assumption of variable visibility, from fog, mist banks, small squalls, surface shimmers etc and extending to night actions with decent but variable visibility, say on moonlit nights. The range limit and other modifications under the specific night rules assume starshells etc in support of gunnery at night, the searchlight rules are there to increase the chaos a la the Slot… If you also enforce use of the radar rules where applicable and use squadron markers, it will feel pretty messy- in a good way!
